26th Day of Kythorn

While Troubleshooters Inc. rested and ate the meal that Harshnag had provided for them they discussed business for awhile and then the conversation turned personal with each member revealing a little bit more about themselves to each other in their own way and together that night they came a bit closer to each other while also having private moments to themselves to contemplate the days events.

27th Day of Kythorn

The following day the group of adventurers with Harshnag in tow spent the half day to return to Waterdeep for the upcoming almost month long journey to the Eye of the All Father. They intended to encounter more than a few things on the road and they needed to be prepared. Perrin was eager to return to the City of Splendors so that he could attend the naming ceremony for the newly named Rosie’s Roc and surprise Rosie with her namesake.

Arriving in Waterdeep it was business as usual except for the one large addition of Harshnag coming with them into the city which was strange given his Giant heritage and yet he pushed past the guards at the gate without a further look and instructed Troubleshooter’s Inc that they could find him at Blackstaff Tower in the Castle Ward at the Base of Mount Waterdeep along the Waterdeep Way. The party then split with Perrin making a beeline or the Open Lord’s Palace, Valerion went off in search of potions, Bolgur and Chopper both went off to find an enchanter.
The latter three found their way into the Trades Ward of the city and working their way down the Way of the Dragon each found their own destination that they had been looking for. Valerion found himself looking at a sign that read Lovehoney’s Potent Potables and entered to find a High Elf Female behind the desk who introduced herself as Lovehoney. He conducted his business quickly and was off. Bolgur and Chopper entered a heavily incensed building with the smoke and smell clinging to them as soon as they walked in the door. They were greeted by a rather strange looking humanoid with scales all over his body all a kind of bronze color. Chopper had never seen this kind of person before but Bolgur had and quickly explained that this was a Dragonborn. Bolgur tried to convince the dragonborn, who introduced himself as Einrath the Enchanter, to imbue his blade and shield with poison, however he was unable to convince the dragonborn to do it for anything less than fair market price and so Bolgur left empty handed.

That night the party once again reunited and along with Rosie, Lady Laurel Silverhand (who seemed more at ease on Perrin’s arm), Harshnag and a few other attendee’s christened the newly renamed Rosie’s Roc with Rosie herself being the one to smash the bottle of wine against the ship’s hull as was tradition. Perrin’s belly swelled with pride as he looked on but was also torn by the memories that the ship had brought back to him and the thought of living his little sister behind but he knew that she was in good hands. The rest of the night was spent enjoying the comforts of the city for each member of Troubleshooters Inc. knew that the next part of the journey would be long and arduous and potentially strife with much difficulty. Each member found themselves a comfortable bed to sleep on, the last one they would for quite awhile.

28th of Kythorn – 1st of Flamerule

On the morning of the 28th the 4 friends with Harshnag left the City of Splendors behind them, the morning dew clinging to the blades of sweeping grasslands and hills of the area. Not wasting any time and wanting to cover as much distance as possible they pushed hard towards their first destination on the road, Rassalantar. After 2 days of travel up the Long Road they arrived at their destination. Rassalanter being so close to Waterdeep had a strong garrison of the City Guard here, Waterdeep’s standing armed force. The four party members made their way into town, intent on finding an inn to stay at, Harshnag bid them goodbye for the evening telling them he’d much rather meet them on the other side of the town so as to not incite panic. The adventurers found themselves in the Sleeping Dragon Inn for the night run by a dwarf by the name of Yondral Horn. They had a modest meal, found themselves a room and very quickly slept. Waking the next day Troubleshooters Inc. made their way out of Rassalantar through the Sword Hills and made their way into Amphail on the evening of the 1st Day of Flamerule known to some as the month of Summertide.

Amphail’s market square with it’s great black stallion was a hustle and bustle of activity as the party approached (again Harshnag had deemed to not enter the town). There were great pavilions and tents being set up all around the Town Square with brightly colored streamers and the smell of roasting meats pervaded the air as the party entered the town. They immediately noticed all around them posted on seemingly any empty wall space of the town were notices that read:
Come One, Come All
Lord Tylander Roaringhorn’s
Sixty-Third Birthday
All Welcome!
Main Square
To be held the 1st Night of Flamerule
A grey haired middle aged woman seemed to be bustling about in charge of the celebration, she seemed very in control of the situation. All 4 of the members entering the town felt that they would enjoy staying for the celebrations and all sat by to watch the proceedings. They also each purchased a room in the Stag Horned Flagon and noticed that the grey haired woman was also the proprietor of the tavern. They asked after her and soon they had met Arleosa Starhenge, a woman with a strange accent and a dry humor. They asked who she was and where she was from and discovered that she was a Vistani from the dread Land of Barovia. They took note of this and spent the rest of the evening before the celebration relaxing in the inn.

When the celebration had begun the members of Troubleshooters Inc. revelled in the joy that the villagers and nobles of the town came together to celebrate all as one people in this night. Tylandar Roaringhorn an older but still pry individual milled about and gave a lovely speech.

As the party died down, Chopper could sense tremors in the earth using her innate sense of the ground that all Svirfnebli have at birth. Soon thereafter the other members of the party could feel it too, then the rest of the party goers began looking around as well. Walking into the town, attracted by the smell of the food and ale were three Hill Giants. They immediately set about with their great clubs grabbing anything that would fit in their fat grubby hands.
The members of Troubleshooters Inc though, had different plans for the Hill Giants and very quickly (within about 2 minutes) had dropped all 3 giants and with the help of Harshnag dragged them away from the village so the celebration could continue. The rest of the night was spent continuing the birthday celebrations as well as celebrating yet another win for Troubleshooters Inc.

2nd Day of Flamerule – 4th of Flamerule

The morning after the party came bright and beautiful and very quickly the party set off intent on getting further up the road, meeting up with Harshnag again they set off. They traveled for 3 days along the road, not encountering any resistance at all, probably because they had a giant as a travelling companion. On the afternoon of the 4th Day of Flamerule they arrived at the town of Red Larch. A bustling town with many businesses booming. Immediately each member of Troubleshooters began taking note of the many locations here; intent on doing business with each one of them. They made their way through the town, Chopper being distracted by the smells coming from a bakery on the North end of town, Bolgur quickly set out to find the smithy or a purveyor of arms and armor, Perrin entered the Swinging Sword Inn where he was met by a modest yet comfortable common room filled with soft conversation and the smell of roasting meats. He quickly met with the Proprietor Kaylessa Irkell and tried to sell her some of Flamebeard’s Firebrandy but it proved rather difficult for him. After purchasing a room for himself he set off to the only other establishment serving spirits, the Helm at Highsun.

Valerion in the meantime had felt the need to relax and be pampered and had walked straight towards the Bathhouse in town called Haeleeya’s. Inside he was greeted warmly by the shop’s namesake and proceeded to bath and clean the many days of dirt and grime off himself. He also managed to convince Haeleeya to purchase a contract for 4 Barrels of Firebrandy every Ten-day at 40 GP/barrel. Chopper however was spending money at Lorren’s Bakery much to the delight of the owner of the shop Mangobarl Lorren. The loafs of bread were warm and delicious and the sweet rolls were of particular favorites of Chopper’s. After a time, she left to find her friends. Bolgur had both visited the Ironhead Arms, where he had met a genial half-orc named Feng, and the Smithy in town, where he had met the not so genial husband and wife smiths, Eldras and Laefra Tantur. Both of his visits proved fruitless however as neither the Smiths and the Arms Dealer had any interest in doing business with Garn’s Metalworks.

Perrin spent some time in the Helm at Highsun, a ramshackle two-storey tavern where he met the proprietor there to discuss business. Garlen Harlathurl informed him that he was interested, yet had to discuss with his two partners, one of which was here and could be retrieved and the other of which was a Waterdhavian noble that would prefer to remain anonymous. Garlen went and retrieved his other partner, a gruff and rotund Justran Daehl who while discussing with Perrin and Garlen flashed an odd sign with his hands crossing the forefingers and overlapping the thumbs to create an X-shape linked by a line across the bottom. Perrin took note of this to ask Valerion later and continued talking until his business was settled and then found his friends back at the Swinging Sword Inn where they discussed the goings on of the town. Valerion, using his Book of Lore discovered that the sign that Justran had flashed was none other than the sign for the Cult of the Crushing Wave, one of the four elemental cults.

Troublshooters Inc. were not happy that there was a Cult presence in the town and felt the need to deal with it, however feeling a sense of loyalty towards Harshnag and their current mission they decided to set out anyways and perhaps one day would come back and investigate further.

5th of Flamerule – 8th of Flamerule

Setting out on yet another beautiful summers day, Troubleshooters Inc with Harshnag in tow made good time to the next settlement up the Long Road; Westbridge. They did not tarry long in the village, only staying in the Harvest Inn, run by a Halfling by the name of Herivin Dardragon for one night and moving on the next day. On the 7th day in the month of Flamerule they encountered a storm, and using Harshnag as some cover decided to press on instead of finding shelter. About midway through the day, hard to tell in a storm, they began to see humanoid shapes coming out of the blowing rain. At first, they drew their swords and prepared themselves but after watching the group of people approaching noticed that they meant no threat. They were farmers and people, all bruised, muddy and bloodied from their travels.

The leader of the group stepped forward and introduced herself as Darathra Shendrel the Lord Protector of Triboar. She informed them of the destruction of the Triboar, telling Troubleshooters Inc. that they had been beset by Fire Giants, Orogs, Orcs mounted on Axe-Beaks and small “lava creatures”. She sadly told them that the people of Triboar had mostly been killed or chased out and that she had watched the giants enter a campground in the town and dig up a gigantic piece of adamantite and drag it away while their consorts had destroyed what was left of the town.

Troubleshooters Inc directed them all to head south towards Red Larch and upon arrival to talk to the members of the town that knew of the adventuring group and would assuredly help the refugees get back on their feet, clean and healthy. Grateful of their assistance and advice, Darathra Shendrel asked where the party was headed after Triboar. After discovering that they were headed to Everlund, she gave them an insignia of Triboar and instructed them that upon arrival to Everlund they should head straight to Dannivar’s House and present the One-Eyed Half Orc proprietor, whose name she told them was Dral Thelev, with the badge and he would take care of them from there. Taking the insignia, Troublshooters Inc set out again but more cautiously, knowing the destruction that awaited them in Triboar and that potentially there could be more giants about.

The next day brought the party to the ruins of Triboar, a once proud town that sat on the crossroads of the Evermoor Way and the Long Road. Some buildings still stood and they could still see the general outline of what Triboar used to be but most of it was a complete ruin. Fire had taken most of the buildings apparently, as the party began investigating. They found a few bodies, also a few trinkets (most notably a Wand of the War Mage and Bracers of Defense in a magical chest) amongst the rubble, taking what they wanted and leaving the rest for the next scavenger to come along. After spending some time, taking in what they could further learn about the attack on Triboar and where the Fire Giants may have gone, the party rested and then continued their travels, not wanting to spend too much time in such destruction and death and eager to reach Everlund.

9th of Flamerule – 19th of Flamerule

For the next ten-day, Troubleshooters Inc. with Harshnag pushed through their journey along the Evermoor Way stopping only briefly in the cities and villages along the way. On the 10th of Flamerule, they passed through the fortified river port of Yartar, taking note of how packed the city seemed and that it had quite the pleasure barge at it’s docks. The 13th saw them arriving at Calling Horns, a small village that had grown around what once had been a lonely inn of the same name. They met quickly with the leader of the village, a sixty-year-old Tethyrian woman named Tamalin Zoar, who seemed to have things well in hand so they just passed on through. The longest part of their trek on the Evermoor Way was the next stretch, seeing them arrive at Olostin’s Hold on the 17th of Flamerule. The party yet again spent very little time in the fortified keep, however Perrin was able to set up yet another Firebrandy Distribution deal with the proprietor of the tavern known as the Flaming Flagon Inn. Just as soon as they had arrived it seemed that Troubleshooters Inc was off again, eager to discover the truth of Artus Cimbers whereabouts and to go and see this Dral Thelev as they had been instructed by Darathra Shendrel.

When finally, Troubleshooters Inc arrived at Everlund on the 19th of Flamerule (with Harshnag yet again remaining outside the city), they wasted no time in finding Danivarr’s House on the north bank of the Rauvin River which ran right through the city. Inside they were very quickly greeted by the very same one-eyed half-orc who had been described to them. They presented Dral Thelev with the Triboar Insignia badge that they had been given and he immediately offered them a table and a bottle of wine that he claimed was Silverymoon’s finest. Chopper drank her cup immediately and before everyone else’s eyes promptly disappeared. Dral Thelev assured them that the drink was merely taking the party to where they wanted to go to find answers and eventually, and through much convincing on Dral’s part, each of the remaining party members took a good quaff of the wine finding themselves too mysteriously transported away.

The four adventurers found themselves unharmed and standing in a well-furnished parlor with walls of polished black stone. Most notably too, was the fact that there were at least a dozen winged housecats mingling about the room. After a couple of minutes, in which Bolgur became infatuated with the Tressym, the winged cats, Troubleshooters Inc found themselves face to face with a doddering old man who introduced himself as Krowen Valharrow the resident archmage of Moongleam Tower in Everlund. He bid them follow him and they were brought beforeMoonlord Daviana Yalrannis who quickly explained that they were in the Harpers Headquarters in Everlund and had been brought here only because Darathra Shendrel had seemingly vetted them by giving them the Triboar Insignia badge.

Moonlord Yalrannis answered all their questions to the best of her abilities, offering very little information on Artus Cimber stating that she had not seen him for some time and that the Harpers’ fear was that their agent had gone rogue. She then offered them a place to rest as well as the use of the Harper’s Teleportation Network which connected Everlund, Mirabar, Yartar, Neverwinter, Loudwater and Waterdeep with permanent Teleportation Circles. This excited the Adventuring group greatly as the ideas of using these circles appealed to Troubleshooters Inc. They accepted the offer for rest graciously and spent a few hours discussing a business proposition they had in mind.

It was at this time that Chopper wandered and found herself in a room of the tower that seemed to be some sort of weapons room, with one weapon catching her eye. It seemed to be a blade that was worn on the wrist of a person and could be drawn by a simple flick of the wrist. She inquired after the purchase of the blade and was told that such a weapon was only given out to members of the Harpers which she was invited to join. Chopper wanted to join the Harpers, if not only for the weapon, yet felt trepidation over joining another organization while already being a part of one. She returned to her friends who had finished the discussion and presented her thoughts and feeling to them to make sure that they would not have a problem with her joining another faction. They gave her their blessing and together all 4 presented themselves to Moonlord Yalrannis again.

Together Perrin, Bolgur, Valerion and Chopper convinced the Moonlord to not only allow them unlimited access to the Harper’s Teleportation Network but to also have the Harper’s set up a permanent circle in Troublshooters HQ in Bryn Shander now aptly named Trouble’s Court. This was agreed upon with the condition that it be operated by a Harper mage always, to which all 4 party members acquiesced to. It was at this time as well that Chopper offered herself to the Harpers. Moonlord Yalrannis inducted Chopper herself, gifting her with her very own hidden blade which Chopper promptly put on and tried the spring loaded blade a couple of times to see how it worked. She was also named Watcher within the Harper organization and was given a pin which she promptly put on as well trying to make it not readily visible.

After a couple, more hours of rest and discussion with the Moonlord, and the finagling of Krowen Valharrow for one of his Tressym by Bolgur, Troubleshooters Inc decided that their next destination should be back to Bryn Shander via teleportation circle to make sure that business was still good and work on the shipments of ale that they had now promised to a few locations. They were all taken to the top room of the tower and grasping each others hands were teleported in a blinding flash of light back to the cold, windy and bleak city that was Bryn Shander.….

20th Day of Kythorn

After travelling a couple hours leaving the Illuskan coast behind them, they each received staterooms on board the Fathom, nice quarters for a ship’s voyage; better than sleeping with the crew anyways. Perrin and Chopper quickly set into action with the intent of working on getting their ship back. They snuck into the officer’s quarters and made quick work of the Quartermaster by smothering him with a pillow and stabbing him till his life was gone then made their way to Valerion’s stateroom.

In the meantime, Bolgur made a party below decks with the off-shift crew with the intent of getting them so drunk to enable the plan to go off smoother and with less contention. Perrin and Chopper then discussed with Valerion the validity of their plan discussing many ways to take over the ship including inciting mutiny, using darkness to assassinate the crew on the top deck, or perhaps using Mirror Image or Suggestion in some way. Valerion felt trepidation over blatantly murdering the entire crew whilst the other two said that it was simply a matter of vengeance (definitely NOT piracy). Valerion raised the concern that Perrin’s actions were a personal one whereas they should be a business decision made as a group.

Below decks Bolgur, set out to get the crew so blackout drunk so that they would fight each other however found it very difficult in dealing with a drunken crew that had served together for some time but he made a few coins by arm wrestling everyone in the crew and winning. After a time, the crew very sloppily made it to their berths and fell into a deep drunk induced sleep. He then waited quietly for the signs of the 9 crewmen below sleeping then set about working from room to room slitting the throats of all the crewmen and sent them all to Talona.

The arguing upstairs reached a climax to where Valerion decided to use suggestion on Perrin to get him to follow Valerion’s plans of taking over the ship by convincing the captain and the crew to mutiny against each other. Perrin struggled against the spell and Valerion dispelled the suggestion after a time, feeling guilty.

After killing the crew below decks Bolgur Anvir made his way back to the Galley finding the cook and his cook’s boy working away. He tried to work out many ways to perform assassinations on the above deck crew. However, his attempts to find a quiet corner proved futile so he returned to Galley and locked the Cook and the Cook’s boy in the Cook’s quarters and barred the door wanting to eliminate as many hostiles as he could before the inevitable battle ensued.

Finally reaching a plan of action, with Perrin’s promise to help Valerion revive Cluckles, Perrin, Chopper and Valerion set to work. They opened the door slightly, enough so that Perrin could make out the faint outline of the captain in the dusk light. Perrin set up his sniper rifle Roc’s Bane and began aiming to take his shot…

Bolgur after ensuring the two were locked in the Galley then stepped out onto the main deck as Perrin’s first shot rang out. The first shot caught the Captain greatly in the shoulder rendering his arm useless, Perrin quickly reloaded then let out another Sharpshooter shot hitting the Captains other shoulder delivering massive damage with his gun. The captain then began to shout calls of alarm but as he did so, Perrin reloaded again and lined up a final shot this time using his Deadeye to get the bullet to go right through the captain’s mouth blowing out the back of his head and Captain Diddimus fell dead.

Valerion, watching the captain fall stood over Perrin in the doorway, summoned his Pact Weapon as a tentacle driven sword to take out a crewman by driving his Pact Blade through the crewman’s throat closest to the door. The crew then set about in a wild panic trying to find something to fight; it was utter chaos but two of the crewman found Bolgur as a target and attacked. One was deflected by Bolgur’s shield while the other left but a small scratch in the laughing dwarf. Valerion also was attacked by a crewman but managed to dodge out of the way of the sweeping blade just in time.

Bolgur, set about with his sword and slashed downward dealing a deep gash from shoulder to naval and finishing the crewman off with a stab through his heart. Chopper, using her Svirnebli shortness then charged in between Valerion’s legs utilizing her War Pick driving it up in the mans legs who was attacking Valerion. She stabbed hard between the legs and castrated the man. She then brutally removed her pick from the mans balls and drove her pick through the doubled over man and caved in his head with her pick in a spray of blood and brains.

Bolgur engaged another of the crewmen with his sword dealing massive blows combined with his Divine Smite, the radiant damage encompassing the man and removing him from the deck leaving only behind a pile of ash. He found himself again taking on two crewmen, one finding his mark and the other bouncing off the shield bearing Talona’s symbol. Valerion also faced a new foe who found a sword cutting across his flesh the blood seeping through his robes. Valerion used his Pact Blade to deal an immense blow across his throat and with a spray of blood the man fell. He then attempted to throw his blade at a man further away from him with it going wide and dissipating in a spray of Yellow Astral Light.

Perrin left Roc’s Bane and exited Valerion’s stateroom while his Captain’s old pistol began to glow. He recognized the last three crewmen left alive on the ship as some of his traitorous old crew. He took his two pistols Anna, the glowing one, and One-Eye his other pistol and took two shots at two of the crewman dealing vicious blows into the two men’s sides. He quickly shot again using Anna and dropped one of the crewman and, aiming with sharpshooter, shot at another with One-Eye blowing his head off spraying Bolgur in blood.

Chopper moved out onto the main deck to witness the last person’s death. The last crewman left alive made a vicious attack on Bolgur as a last attempt but it was to no avail as Valerion cast his Eldritch Blast and broke the mans body against the walls of the stern castle of the Fathom with a sickening crunch.

Perrin had taken over his old ship, and he was now the Captain. In looking over the ship, Bolgur revealed that the only men left alive on the ship were the Cook and the Cook’s Boy. Perrin gave them two options, the plank by peace or the plank by force. Much to Valerion’s dismay and protests, the two crewmen chose the plank and quickly found themselves in the Sea of Swords with one barrel between them.

Perrin, finally able to enjoy his vengeance saw 8 scratches on his gun Anna, signs of his revenge. He quickly took his place at the ships wheel and instead of going to Waterdeep as planned redirected his ship to the Whalebones, for the first time in 6 years he was going home. As they traveled they searched the ship they found some good amount of gold, trade goods and other things that they split up between themselves.

21st day of Kythorn

Arriving at the Whalebones, it was not what was expected. Where once stood great grass and forest laden high cliffs and small villages and towns all was destroyed burned to a crisp by some unknown force. Perrin quickly navigated to his hometown and standing before his burnt village a pit set into his stomach. He knew this was not good. Picking his way with Chopper and Bolgur to his old home his fears were realised as he saw the destroyed and caved in remains of his parent’s hovel…. he went inside and moving things about saw a small hand reaching out from the rubble, the hand of his father.

He very quickly ran to it, grabbed it and with tears streaming down his face and consoling words felt the life leave his fathers body. Chopper found a small doll in the shape of a Roc the last memory of Perrin’s once happy fishing village and she offered it to him with her head bowed. Leaving that behind and with a small consoling word from his two friends, he set off to his favorite place that he had had as a child. It was a small cave in the cliffs near his village that he went to and once inside heard the small whimpering of a young Halfling girl. Without another word, he swept her up in his arms and the three friends set out very quickly back to the ship where Valerion who had stayed behind was seemingly getting the boat ready to make way. Bolgur, looking at the small girl was reminded of his own child and wife.
After some small argument Bolgur took the girl back to the galley with one tear on his face that only Chopper noticed. Valerion who had seemingly gone crazy was threatened by Perrin who had assumed, rightly so that Valerion had been, in his less than lucid state been trying to steal the ship. Perrin quickly took Valerion to his stateroom and with a blow to the back of the head rendered him unconscious hoping that with some sleep his friend would come to his senses.

Bolgur took the small girl back to the galley and fed her some food while doffing his armor and very tenderly telling her a tale of a knight and his happy family. Lifting her spirits while her belly was filled for the first time in days. Perrin, after setting the ship towards Waterdeep, then made his way into the Galley and watched as Bolgur was finishing his happy tale. Then Bolgur grabbed the small girls hand and introduced himself. She then introduced herself as Rosie Thornbarrel. Perrin then stepped forward and taking Rosie’s hand said “My lady, I’m your brother.” With a flood of tears, she gave Perrin the biggest hug of her life. Perrin then found the next thing to live for, his unknown sister.

After a time and after Rosie had spent some time with Perrin she revealed to Bolgur that the islands had been destroyed by a great storm, describing it seemed to bring up bad memories and she broke into tears again but Bolgur stepped forward and said “Don’t be weakened by this, don’t be weakened by loss, I see strength in you” and then used Bless on her to calm her spirits. In that one moment Bolgur felt a strength from his old god Torm, a feeling he had not felt in some time.

For the rest of the day and their travels, everyone including Valerion who had now awoken seemingly more lucid spent time playing with Rosie and teaching her in their own fun way how to be an adventurer and sailors. For the first time in a long while Rosie Thornbarrel was happy again.

23rd Day of Kythorn

By midmorning on the 23rd the Fathom arrived in Waterdeep, a small fog clinging to the many towers and buildings of all shapes and sizes. Chopper looked on the city in awe having never seen a massive city such as this and Rosie did as well, especially when Bolgur told her that the knight from her story lived here. As they arrived in the Dock Ward of Waterdeep. Discussion was had as to where Rosie should go while the party conducted their business. Bolgur suggested she go with the City Guard to Thornhold and stay with his father, but Perrin wanted to ensure Rosie’s safety by going with her, even after Bolgur’s repeated words that she would not be harmed. As they berthed at Waterdeep, they tried very quickly to use Inirva Coldwater’s writ of passage to get free dock fees however it did not work because it was specifically for her ship The Dancing Wave. They quickly paid the 10 GP and found out that Inirva Coldwater hadn’t been back in a few weeks. However, she used to frequent the Hanging Lantern inn.

Perrin left word with the dock master to potentially hire more sailors for the Fathom and he also requested that the ship’s name should be changed to Rosie’s Roc. As they set out into the city they discussed many business matters, Perrin revealed his plans to set up a partnership with Ogden Flamebeard for use of his Firebrandy. They also discussed the contractual terms of any other adventurer who may end up joining their organization.

Valerion then separated from the party and went towards the Trades Ward looking to sell all his purchased scrimshaw for 20 GP/lb. Perrin went and looked for any messages at the post office in the city with Chopper while Bolgur returned to his home that he had been away from for the better part of the month. Perrin inquired as to who could possibly take Rosie while he would be off adventuring but didn’t enjoy the answers he got and kept Rosie in hand. Perrin then went to the last place he had seen his captain Maury Sullist, the Selunes’ Smile. Valerion then entered a guardshouse, and inquired on the writs of contract that had bounded Xolkin’s friends to Troubleshooter’s service, the guard nonchalantly informed them that Xolkin was not a man to be dealt with and that they were pretty much screwed but he offered to forward it onto the Open Lord for enforcement.

Bolgur, after spending some time cleaning his house, set out for the City of the Dead to visit his wife and child. Valerion stopped in at the post office attempting to open a safety deposit box using the F.S.C as the company name he represents. He discovered that the F.S.C had a safety deposit box already at that location. The owner of the Postal Office informed him he was not on the list but that his master had been the last one to deposit an item. Valerion then used Suggestion to convince her to let him retrieve the item. She then began to take him back into the back room. Perrin, Chopper and Rosie set off for the Hanging Lantern. They entered in to a bustling, busy inn. A man with a great feather hat in the corner played the violin. Perrin introduced himself to the inn keep and proposed with the proprietor that Flamebeard Brandy be sold exclusively through the Hanging Lantern Inn. He also inquired to his old crew. The innkeeper then pointed Perrin to Osk Thunderhale the man with the feather playing the violin.

Perrin asked after Osk, discovering that he was a Privateer and then asked after Inirva Coldwater. He bought himself a nice bottle of wine from the proprietor Brinjon. Perrin then approached Osk and waited for him to finish playing his tunes. Chopper and Perrin then gave Rosie a small sip of wine while enjoying a glass of their own and waited for Osk to finish. After a time, Captain Osk Thunderhale came and joined the three sitting at the table and greeted them cordially, after talking to the Captain for awhile he discovered that Osk had not seen Inirva Coldwater or her ship in a long time but he had indeed seen some wreckage floating in between Neverwinter and Leilon. He also told tale of a ship he had seen at a distance that was, as he told it, was as big as a mountain with great tusks on the front of it and covered in hides. Perrin then hired the Captain Thunderhale to sing great tales of Troubleshooters Inc. Perrin then told them all to beware of these ships to which Captain Thunderhale said he and his crew were to head to Calimport. They then talked of Artus Cimber to which Thunderhale knew nothing about. Finally, Perrin inquired after the Roaringhorn family finding out that Lord Zelraun Roaringhorn was hosting a party in his mansion 2 days from now on the 25th Day of Kythorn. After bidding Thunderhale a polite goodbye they then began the walk through the streets towards Bolgur Anvir’s house.

Back at the post office Valerion was escorted into the back room and left alone with an ornate looking strongbox that apparently contained something left behind by his master. After some time Valerion opened the box up to discover a rod made of Adamantine that he was unfamiliar with that weighed about 50 lbs. He tried to figure out what the item did but he could not figure out what the rod, with two pronged ends on it did until after he had attuned to it. When he had, the item attuned he knew that this was a form of divining rod made of Adamantine that would help him locate objects especially ones made from Adamantine. He also sent out letters to his future wife and his courier Titius with further instructions on dealing with his matters. Valerion then left to Bolgur’s House.

Bolgur during this was spending time visiting the graves of his wife and child, after a time he fell asleep and found himself swept away in his dreams and to his slight alarm discovered he was communing with the very god he worshipped Talona. She demanded his full Oath and Fealty and told him she required a sacrifice telling him that the “Dead should be forgotten”. After taking his oath Bolgur awoke to find himself sleeping next to gravestones marked with names he did not know and he headed home to the home he had ever known where he had lived alone for as long as he could remember.
He found his friends there, all resting and joined them all for a deep sleep. A sleep that they would all remember or many days in the harder times to come.

24th Day of Kythorn

As the companions awoke the next day well rested all but Bolgur. Perrin passed on the information that he had discovered mainly about Lord Roaringhorn’s party. As they all stepped out they noticed that the people of Waterdeep were all going back into their houses as a great shadow fell over the city. Looking up they saw floating in on two clouds, a Cloud Giants castle that came to a rest 1000ft above the city. Troubleshooters Inc. quickly sprang into action running towards the tallest tower in Waterdeep, notably Blackstaff Tower. Bolgur then stopped them and handed out some pixie dust to each of the members just in case. Approaching Castle Ward, they could hear the heralds of the Open Lord shouting to the people to continue on with their day and not to worry. Bolgur sprinkled pixie dust on himself and he began to fly towards the castle with the rest of Troubleshooters Inc. that had followed suit

As the group rose 1100ft. they began to see the detail of the castle come into form. It’s many towers of white polished stone rose and were capped with brilliant blue domes, it’s one main keep seemed very defensible with giant sized ballistae coming from certain walls, it also is connected by bridge that extends out onto a separate cloud where a presumed guard tower floated silently. They spent time searching for a way in finding no one on the outside of this castle. Quickly Bolgur found a semi-circle bulwark wall that had two Giant sixed doors on either end that entered the keep. With the rest of Troubleshooters Inc. Bolgur pressed forward, eager to see what awaited inside. Approaching the door swiftly they watched as the Giant-sized door opened outward revealing a Cloud Giant guard in the space, Bolgur tried to communicate with the Giant in Common to no avail.

Valerion stepped forward speaking Giant and asked the guard whether they intended to do the same thing to Waterdeep that they had done to Nightstone. The Cloud Giant denied ever hearing of Nightstone and denied having anything to do with it’s destruction. He also bid them enter the castle because Count Nimbolo had bid them to “come visit”. Troubleshooters followed through many hallways as quickly as one can follow a giant. They entered a great audience hall where they saw two Cloud Giants sitting on thrones.

The male giant stood up and stepped towards them saying, “Greetings, I am Count Nimbolo and this is my castle”
“Greetings your countship,” Valerion said with a bow.
“What business have you on my castle?”
Bolgur then stepped forward, “You just came floating over Waterdeep, we kinda need to know why you’re here”
Count Nimbolo held up his hands and explained, “We mean no harm to the city, we are scholars and cartographers searching for long lost relics of our Ancient Empire, Ostoria”
“So, you guys are stopping in?” said Bolgur.
“We had planned to send an emissary to the Lord of this City with a request for a meeting, but then you four showed up on my castle,” Count Nimbolo replied.
Perrin stepped forward, “We would be glad to help you as your emissaries for a price….”
Nimbolo looked down at the small Halfling on the ground and said simply “Your price is your life.”

In response, Bolgur almost drew blades but was stopped by a quick whisper from Perrin. Valerion then communed with Count Nimbolo in giant to discover more information about the Giant Relics that Nimbolo was searching for. Nimbolo told him of great artifacts that can be used to shape the earth. Great constructs and weapons used to fight dragons and many such other things that a human mind could not even comprehend during the Thousand Years War when giants and dragons fought each other over the lands.

Troubleshooters Inc. then asked whether the giants had an inventory or list of these relics to which they did not. However, Valerion reached back and pulled out the rod that had been left for him in a safety deposit box with the note “Use it Well,” Nimbolo was shocked to see him have such an item explaining that it had come from a Fire Giant at one point or another. The Count then asked to see the Rod activating the powers within and explained that Valerion had possession of a Rod of Vodindod. Perrin asked about the relics and to whether the giant needed them to be brought back to him. Nimbolo then explained that he merely needed information on the items as human hands and minds would be consumed by the power within.

Perrin asked about the Ring of Winter, if that was something Nimbolo sought out. Nimbolo told him it was not a Giant relic but a giant would be looking to use it, a fearsome Frost Giant lord known as Jarl Storvald. They were also warned of another Cloud Giant, less friendly than Nimbolo and his people. Nimbolo told them her name was Countess Sansuri and she was not to be trifled with. After conceding to pass on the message the party set out, using Pixie Dust to fly back down to the city below and go and talk to the Open Lord. Perrin however instead chose to fly back to Bolgur’s house where he had instructed Rosie to hide while he was gone. They all set out to their locations they had decided on, Perrin arriving at the front of Bolgur’s House and the rest of them arrived in front of the Open Lord’s palace. They were greeted by guards who very quickly began escorting them in to see the Open Lord upon her command.

They were brought into the hall and first set eyes on the beautiful Open Lord of Waterdeep, Lady Laeral Silverhand, standing next to her they could see Blackstaff Vajra. They talked with the Lady for sometime explaining what Count Nimbolo had wished them to say to her. She took a liking to Chopper especially; having never seen her kind before.

The members of Troubleshooters Inc. tried to get Lady Laeral Silverhand to approve their “contract” with Xolkin Alassander and get it enforced and were pretty much told to enforce it themselves. As they continued to discuss things Blackstaff Vajra seemingly teleported out of the room and came back quite quickly saying he had been to see Count Nimbolo and that they had set a time to meet and had acquiesced to float their castle 1/2 mile out to sea to calm the common folk. After a time, they all took their leave of her and began working their way through the palace of the Open Lord, stepping into an archway of a passage they found themselves instantly transported into a lush office with thousands of tomes flitting about in the air. Organizing and re-organizing themselves, sitting at his desk sitting there patiently was Blackstaff Vajra.

Valerion especially had been one to think that he had wanted to talk to this man and wondered at the sheer power of him, that he could bring them all here with his sheer will. He gave them 5 minutes to talk and they found out a few things. They discovered that Artus Cimber was last seen in Everlund, they heard the sad confirmation of Inirva Coldwater’s death, Valerion discovered and confirmed information about his own personal mission asking questions about the Serpent Hills, Star Mounts and the Moonshae Isles.

In the meantime, Perrin, who had not been with his party retrieved his younger sister and they went to the markets in the Trades Ward of Waterdeep buying and selling and spending some time together. Perrin knew it would not be long before he would have to leave her behind somewhere in this city and go back out to fix what was wrong with the world. After a time, together they made their way towards the Castle Ward of the city and were approaching the Blackstaff’s tower when not 60 ft. in front of him, his friends appeared out of nowhere, apparently, their business with Blackstaff Vajra had concluded.

With greetings and updates the party reunited and Perrin having not had a chance to talk with Lady Laeral requested an audience to which he was granted. He was short and too the point yet very respectful. He requested that Rosie be put under the Open Lord’s care because he did not trust the people of the city. Lady Laeral touched by his love took Rosie in and made her an official ward of House Silverhand while also taking Perrin’s boat Rosie’s Roc under her protection so that it would be secure while he investigated the Giant trouble inland and where he could not keep an eye on his ship.

Perrin also extended an invite to Lady Laeral to join him at Zelraun Roaringhorns party on the morrow. She informed him that she had received an invite but no escort and gladly accepted his offer. With his affairs in order and a date with a beautiful lady Perrin took his leave of the Open Lord. Troubleshooters Inc then spent the rest of the day drinking, talking and relaxing

25th of Kythorn

The next day was mostly spent preparing for the party each buying their own idea of fine clothes, Chopper’s especially being mostly old styles and a hodge podge of articles of clothes as she was unfamiliar with the style of dress of Waterdhavian Nobility. She ended up looking rather frumpish as she also kept her armor on underneath the dress

Bolgur set out to imbue his sword with poison and got into a bit of an altercation with an enchanter that was presumably working for the Thieves Guild, the Zhentarim, or both and it almost came to blows but didn’t. However, Bolgur may have revealed too much to the merchant but that remains to be seen.

After all their business was done for the day each member found their own way to the party of Lord Zelraun Roaringhorn. Chopper and Bolgur found their way to it first. Valerion arrived third and then finally Perrin arrived after spending some time trying to get Lady Silverhand’s favor while trying to make it not uncomfortable for his sister Rosie who was beautiful in a new dress bought for her by the Open Lord.

The food was delicious, the wine and ale as well, when most of the guests had seemingly finally arrived a great stomp rang out and Lord Roaringhorn stepped into the room followed closely by a construct with a shield in it’s chest. After introductions were made the party went into full swing. Perrin gave equal attention to Lady Laeral and Rosie throughout the night with each member of the party taking turns babysitting Rosie. After a time Bolgur Anvir and Perrin each approached Lord Roaringhorn to inquire about Artus Cimber and giants to which he was directed to Everlund. It seemed that there were more than a few questions to be answered in that city. Perrin also inquired about a sponsorship of Troubleshooters Inc. in which they would represent House Roaringhorn to which Lord Zelraun replied he would send them a letter and with a laugh reminded them to not mix business with pleasure.

The party ended with each member of the party lightheaded and full from wine, ale and fine foods. Bolgur found the company of some women, Perrin returned his Ladies back to their palace, Chopper filled her pockets with as much food as she could carry and Valerion after inquiring about the Lady Silverhand and her house made his way to sleep as well, all the party determined to begin the long trek to Everlund in the morning.

26th of Kythorn

The next day, after recovering from their respective hangovers they gathered their gear and made their way out onto the High Road leaving north out of Waterdeep, they spent some time moving towards the Long Road when they all noticed a great plume of smoke between the Long Road and the Northfurrow Road. Heading towards the smoke it didn’t take them long to notice that there was a lone Frost Giant standing by a giant-sized fire warming his hands.

Valerion hailed the giant, to which the Giant said that he had been waiting for them to arrive. The party approached, stepping into the looming size of the giant. He looked down at them and said “My name is Harshnag, and I was once a member of Force Grey and I am here now to take you to the Eye of the All Father so that together we may bring about peace once more.” The party approached, eating food provided by Harshnag and together they began to discuss their plan to set out………

The Journals of Perrin Thronbarrel
Perrin the Goblin Slayer and Denfender of Ice Wind Dale

Well, it has been quite some time since I last wrote in one of these. But, I am glad to be doing it once again, it gives my head clarity.

Since setting out with my friends Valerion and Bolgur, we have saved a town from slavery or worse, started a harsh rivalry with some unsavory folk, pushed a goblin tribe to move south in the same of said rivals, and met a new friend in the jails of Bryn Shander. Not bad id say. But alas, I am at a cross roads once again. I have board passage on my old ship, Fathom, and recognize most of the crew who left me to die. These men betrayed their captain and by all the laws of the sea they deserve whatever I have planned (or not planned). I will try and see what this captain knows of the past mutiny, or I shall stay in the guest quarters and hatch a plan with my friends. I heed their advice and I hope that they understand my motives for my actions on our voyage to Waterdeep.

I am quite fond of our new friend Chopper. She has a mysteriousness about her I find utterly intriguing! How she shapes and manipulates diamonds is breathtaking. We are becoming fast friends as we tinker away the early hours of the day. She has helped me create my first firearm, Roc’s Bane named after the huge birds of my homeland. It is with this tool I will become the greatest adventurer in the land!

I feel like I have figured out how I will create my Rapiergun, of course with Choppers help I believe we have the materials and knowledge to move forward. If this attempt works, I shall surprise Chopper with a gift I have been thinking of. A Macegun whose ammunition spreads its blast with tiny little bullets, thinking of a name for that one will be difficult.

An Unlikely Ally
1st Day of Mirtul-19th Day of Kythorn 1490 DR

After ascending the floating steps up to the tower Troublsehooters Inc. encountered a very eccentric Cloud Giant who introduced himself as Zephyros. After explaining that he had communed with other entities that had told him to come and provide a one way trip to anywhere in the North, so the party could continue their destiny.

The trip was long and tedious, 26 Days to Bryn Shander even by the flying Tower of Zephyros. The first 3 days were uneventful however the Giant received some visitors from the Cult of the Howling Hatred who were their trying to convince Zephyros to assist them and their great and terrible lord Yan-C-Bin to return the world to it’s Primordial State as it was at the dawn of history. After some advice from the Troublshooters, Zephyros politely declined the Cult’s offer and let them leave his tower in peace, while also passing on the gift meant for him from the Cult; a bag of pixie dust.

On the 10th Day, and after Bolgur grew particularily attached to one of Zephyros’ griffons the Giant’s Tower came under attack from an Adult Silver Dragon and 6 Shield Dwarves. The Troubleshooters quickly intervened and explained that Zephyros was an ally in the fight and should not be harmed. With a curt warning that the Lords Alliance would be watching the party had presumably navigated their way through another encounter.

Zephyros then gave some of the party gifts, allowing Valerion Dawnfall to discover the location of something very close to his pact. Perrin Thornbarrell was given his captains gun, a beautiful magical gun that was called Anna. After practicing with it for some time Perrin discovered another name magically engraved along the barrel, Maury Sullist, his captain.

Finally arriving in Bryn Shander on the 27th day of Mirtul they quickly learned why Icewind Dale is so named and moved swiftly to the front gates where they met the Sherriff’s Deputy Augrek Brighthelm (Deceased) who quickly gave a well rehearsed speech on the ammenities now available to the party. They moved in swiftly to Kelvin’s Comfort, a famous inn in Bryn Shander owned by a dwarf by the name of Ogden Flamebeard where they quickly got into a barfight fueled by Flamebeard’s Firebrandy. Which landed Troubleshooters Inc in jail.

Upon arriving in the jail area they met the sheriff of Bryn Shander, Markham Southwell who after abruptly hearing about his sisters death from Bolgur Anvir seemed to take some pity on the drunken adventurers. It was then sitting in a cell that they came to know a strange Svirfneblin by the name of Chopper. The next day they arranged for all of their party to be released, which now included Chopper and made their way out into the frigid cold again.

The party spent most of their time that day either making dealings with Garn the owner of Blackiron Blades, or at Rendaril’s Emporium buying goods and magic items from the half-elf proprietor of the same name. After a day of working and dealing and trading the party settled in back at Kelvin’s Comfort for a much more relaxed night of drinking.

On the 29th of Mirtul, the town quickly came under attack from 12 Frost Giants with their leader Drufi looking for Artus Cimber and the Ring of Winter. The party with the help of the townsfolk pushed back the giant’s attack and became Defenders of Icewind Dale. However the victory came at grave cost, many guards perished in the fight as well as Augrek Brighthelm (Deceased), Sir Baric Nylef, and many other townsfolk.

The party spent a Ten-day helping Bryn Shander return to normal and were also Deputized to Patrol the area for any giants finding none within a days march of the town. Valerion Dawnfall had a whirlwind romance with Duvessa Shane with the end of the Ten-day revealing a wedding date set between the pair for the 27th Day of Kythorn 1491 DR. The other members of Troubleshooters Inc. were busy setting up a business to pay any mind.

The party then set off again under direction of Duvessa Shane to find her Aunt, Inirva Coldwater who is Captain of the Dancing Wave who will provide the Troubleshooters with passage and accomadation to travel up or down the Sword Coast. They also met Sirac of Suzail a simple man who revealed himself as the son of Artus Cimber the man the Frost Giants were after.

Although he did not know where his father was, he did know that his father had connections to the Roaringhorns, a noble family in Waterdeep. Sirac of Suzail then asked Troubleshooters to take him to Luskan where he would catch a ship headed south. After resting up for the journey on the 10th Day of Kythorn, Troubleshooters Inc. (now 4 people strong) set out.

The 3 day journey to Hundelstone was cold and miserable but with the help of their warm cloaks they managed to make it. Finding lodgings, food and drink in the Tumbling Rock one of the few warm and welcome surface lodgings. Bolgur Anvir engaged in an arm wrestle with a past member of Force Grey Tormund Ironfist wielding a Belt of Frost Giant Strength and lost but gained some respect.

The next day Troubleshooters set out on the 5 day journey to Luskan, arriving on the 18th Day of Kythorn. Very quickly the Troubleshooters split up to find passage and explore the city. Valerion Dawnfall was a bit mysterious about the nature of where he would be and he quickly booked a small fishing boat to take him to Fang Island just off the coast of the main city.

Perrin Thornbarrel, Chopper Dissengulp and Bolgur Anvir then began setting about to booking passage. The first Inn they went to was the Slaughtered Ox a rough and tumble but acceptable place to get something to eat and drink. Their were men from all of the High Captains drinking together but Perrin was looking for a specific crew. The crew that had mutinied almost a year ago and left him and Captain Sullist to die. After draining their ales the 3 companions set out for the far seedier taverns and inns of Luskan and found one down by Dragon Beach. Entering the Hooked Fish they immediately knew they were definitely in the crappiest part of town.

Very quickly Perrin Thornbarrel saw 3 of his old crew absolutely drunk and sitting together. He went and sat next to them to find out that his old ship Fathom was currently owned by High Captain Suljack. Perrin managed to look just different enough to fool their intoxicated brains long enough to pile some black powder underneath the table and lead a trail back to where his friends were sitting. Lighting it with the spark of his Pistol he watched as the first 3 off of his long list of vengeance were consumed in a ball of fire from the mix of black powder and spilled spirits.

As the companions left the barely phased Hooked Fish Tavern, Bolgur Anvir went searching for passage to Waterdeep while Perrin Thornbarrel and Chopper Dissengulp returned to the Slaughtered Ox. Bolgur Anvir made his way up to The Open Shore where he had discovered that the Fathom was berthed. Bolgur met Captain Diddimus an odd speaking man with an affinity for using potato in his speech. Very quickly Bolgur managed to convince Diddimus to take them to Waterdeep.

While this was all happening Valerion Dawnfall found his old home, the Sanctum of the Yellow King on Fang Island abandoned. This was strange for it had long been a sanctuary for his order. He was greeted by a strange spectral spirit of a young girl who took him farther in to the Sanctum and where he was brought into a dark realm to commune with his god the Dark and Terrible Hastur. As most deities and planar beings are, Hastur was enigmatic and a thing of very few words but Hastur did direct Valerion towards Warlock’s Crypt a place that he had not heard of but that he might find his Order.

The party after reuniting on the 19th Day of Kythorn, boarded the ship Fathom then set out for the Great City of Waterdeep. As the 4 new companions each found their minds wandering and thinking back they mulled in their own thoughts.
Perrin Thornbarrel held his pistol close and thought if this was indeed the time to reclaim his old ship….
Valerion Dawnfall thought back to the words of Hastur and the strange spectral girl that had appeared before him and how she looked strangely familiar….
Chopper Dissengulp thought back to her father and her home Blingdenstone. She wondered if they had repelled the demonic forces pervading the Underdark and were safe or not….
Bolgur Anvir thought to his home he was returning to and let his mind wander to dwell on thoughts of his lost daughter and wife….
Troubleshooters Inc. set off into the Sea of Swords…..
